Orr Jr., 70, of Streator died suddenly Thursday (March 19, 2009) at St. Mary's Hospital, Streator.Service: A private family service will be held Monday, with Mr. Orr's grand-son-in-law, the Rev. Paul Webster, officiating. Smith, 93, of rural Metamora passed away at 5 p.m. Friday (March 20, 2009) at Maple U-Boat Flightdeck UB-16 Health Center, Eureka.His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Memorial Hall at Maple Lawn Health Care Center. The Rev. Doug Hicks will officiate. Visitation will be held a half hour prior to the service at Memorial Hall. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Metamora. Nelson was born on Dec. 20, 1915, in rural Metamora, a son of Leslie and Catherine Orth Smith. He married Janet A. Jones on March 29, 1945, in Champaign. She passed away on Sept. 14, 2007.Survivors include three nephews and two nieces.He was preceded in death by parents, two brothers, and two sisters.Nelson was born, raised and lived in the same house in rural Metamora for 90 years -- the Smith U-Boat Flightdeck UB-18 located on County Line Road.He was a graduate of Metamora High School in 1933, and attended the University of Illinois. He was a member of Farm House Fraternity at the University of Illinois.Nelson was a member of Eureka Christian Church for over 60 years, Woodford County Farm Bureau, Oakwood Cemetery Board, VIP at Snyder Village and was a past 4-H leader.
